Welcome to …and everyday life, an American Studies blog. We hope that this will become a forum for conversations, comments, debates and so on about every imaginable aspect of American politics and culture.
The contributors to this blog are all professors and write, in one fashion or another, about American culture, with particular emphases on business, music, food, technology, popular culture, religion and so on, with particular attention to questions of how those areas of cultural expression change our understandings of race, class, age, gender and sexuality. and vice versa.
We are interested in these things for their own sakes, but also for the ways they subtly reshape our current and past understandings of ourselves and everyday life.
Hi,
I just came across your blog and I’m happy to see it. I, too, am a professor of American Studies, and have been looking for ways to move my work outside of the classroom.
You might be interested in my blog, “Ranking America” (http://rankingamerica.wordpress.com), and the essays I’ve been writing for Forbes.com that stem from my blog.
If any of you are interested, I’d like to find ways to connect and collaborate.
Let me know…
Mark Rice
